The path forward
It’s hard to see the path when you’re looking where it’s not.
Read that again…
Confusing, right? That's the same confusion many creatives face when searching for their way forward.
Looking at the missing pieces and try to fill them in. Looking at what we DON’T have and go going on an endless chase. Focusing on the things we’re NOT good at- comparing our vulnerable inner world to everyone else’s highlight reel.
This is what we’ve been taught to do, after all. Solve the problem. Fill in the blanks. Gather the symbols of “success.”
No one wants to fail the test. Or look like an idiot. Which is why what I’m going to ask of you can be so scary.
Instead of chasing what's missing, focus on what's always been there—the clues in your past.
The childhood toys that fascinated you.
The made-up games you played for hours on end.
The dreams and fantasies that filled your imagination.
The times and places we’ve felt most at peace.
And countless other fleeting moments that marked the way.
It’s all right there, yet we look where it’s not.
Because if you think about it, everything you’ve done and experienced in your life has prepared you for this moment. And this moment is your eternal choice point that will lead you to your future.
Some people will go round and round in circles. Frustrated that they keep winding up at the same place. Which is understandable when you keep choosing the same things...the "safe" things.
Others will go off in a million directions, and wonder why they feel so scattered.
But the true path is right inside you. In your heart.
If you’ll only have the courage to listen, and take the next step, the path becomes so obvious that you can’t imagine how you had so much trouble seeing it in the first place.
Your head will help you make sense of it, but not before you take the step. I promise that eventually the head and heart will be beautifully in sync, but you need to be in motion for that to happen. Not stuck in your head.
So that’s what today is for…
It’s your day.
Your divine crossroads.
Listen. Decide. Step.
You’ve got this.
Peace,
Nick
